Bloodhounds1 Episode 3 continues immediately after Gun-woo and Woo-jin intervene to save a homeless man who is being brutally attacked by men connected to the fake identity-card operation. The two young boxers overpower the attackers and call an ambulance, believing they have simply done what any decent person should do. However, their actions have also disrupted an operation being carefully monitored by Cha Hyeon-ju, who is furious that the two men have exposed themselves and potentially compromised the investigation. Hyeon-ju confronts Gun-woo and Woo-jin over their decision. She explains that the operation required patience and secrecy, and that charging into the situation could have ruined their chance of uncovering the entire scam network. Woo-jin tries to calm the situation and asks Hyeon-ju for an opportunity to explain themselves. The three eventually meet at a library, where Hyeon-ju continues to criticise the two newcomers for interfering with her work. Gun-woo, however, refuses to apologise for saving the homeless man. He explains that he could not stand by and watch someone die simply because protecting that person might interfere with their mission. He shows Hyeon-ju the scar left on his face by Kim Myeong-gil and makes it clear that he understands what it means to be powerless in front of violent people. For Gun-woo, the purpose of their work is not simply money or revenge — it is protecting people who have been abandoned by the system. Woo-jin takes a more practical approach. He understands that they are new to President Choi's organisation and that earning Hyeon-ju's trust is important. Rather than continuing the argument, he tries to understand how her investigation works and why the fake-ID scam is so important. The tension between Hyeon-ju and the two boxers gradually begins to ease as she recognises that their intentions are genuine, even if their methods are difficult to control. The investigation then turns toward the borrower involved in the scam. Gun-woo and Woo-jin begin piecing together how the criminals obtain identification cards from vulnerable people and use those identities to obtain fraudulent loans. The operation is not simply a collection of isolated scams. It is organised, systematic, and connected to the larger financial network surrounding Smile Capital. The men involved in the operation become suspicious that they are being watched. Jae-myeong, one of the people involved in the fraudulent lending scheme, realises that Gun-woo and Woo-jin appear to be connected to President Choi. This makes the investigation increasingly dangerous because the criminals now know that someone is actively trying to uncover their activities. Gun-woo and Woo-jin continue working with Hyeon-ju despite their rocky beginning. Their boxing backgrounds make them particularly useful when physical confrontation becomes unavoidable, while Woo-jin's ability to observe and analyse situations helps them understand how the scam operates. Together, they begin developing a way to expose the criminals without simply attacking everyone involved. Meanwhile, Kim Myeong-gil's conflict with Hong Min-beom escalates. Min-beom continues treating Myeong-gil as someone beneath him because of his criminal background, but Myeong-gil is no longer willing to accept the humiliation quietly. He begins using his own influence and information to gain leverage over Min-beom and his family. What began as a business relationship is turning into a dangerous power struggle. Myeong-gil's growing influence also reveals how ambitious he has become. He does not want to remain merely a loan shark collecting debts from desperate borrowers. He wants access to powerful people, valuable properties, and legitimate-looking businesses that can help him expand his empire. His confrontation with Min-beom gives him an opportunity to move closer to that goal. Back on the investigation, Hyeon-ju eventually recognises that Gun-woo and Woo-jin's moral instincts are not necessarily weaknesses. Their willingness to protect the vulnerable can actually become an advantage when dealing with criminals who believe nobody will stand up for their victims. She decides to give them another opportunity and allows them to continue working on the case. Gun-woo and Woo-jin are relieved when Hyeon-ju tells them to return to work. Their friendship remains one of the strongest elements of the story, with Woo-jin balancing Gun-woo's impulsive sense of justice with a more careful and strategic approach. The two men are beginning to understand that fighting Myeong-gil's organisation will require more than physical strength. By the end of Episode 3, Gun-woo and Woo-jin have officially become part of President Choi's fight against the scam network. They now have a clearer understanding of how Smile Capital exploits vulnerable people, while Myeong-gil has strengthened his position against Hong Min-beom. The conflict is expanding from a personal debt problem into a larger battle involving organised financial crime, powerful businessmen, and the people willing to stand against them. Episode 3 marks an important transition for Gun-woo and Woo-jin. They are no longer simply boxers trying to help Gun-woo's mother. They are becoming investigators and enforcers for President Choi, learning how to combine their fighting abilities with strategy and teamwork.
