📖 Episode Synopsis

Episode 15 brings a devastating turning point in Sang Wuyan and Su Nianqin's relationship. After their painful argument at the hospital, Wuyan leaves heartbroken. She has rushed between her hometown and Nianqin's hospital because both their fathers are seriously ill, but instead of feeling supported, she feels wounded by Nianqin's suspicion and harsh words. She meets Nie Xi in the hospital lobby and learns more about Nianqin's past friendship with Yu Weilan, adding to her confusion about the man she loves. Unable to contain her sadness, Wuyan returns to her rented apartment and drinks alone on the rooftop. She thinks about her relationship with Nianqin and regrets how much she has sacrificed while trying to protect their love. Her mother repeatedly calls, desperate to reach her, but Wuyan is too overwhelmed to answer. Back home, her father’s condition suddenly worsens during the night. Her mother calls for medical help, but the family’s worst fear comes true: Wuyan’s father dies before she can return to him. At the same time, Nianqin faces the operation that could save his own father. Before the liver transplant begins, he holds his father’s hand tightly for the first time and asks the doctors to do everything possible to save him. The surgery is successful, and Nianqin’s father survives. Once the immediate danger has passed, Nianqin asks Xiaolu to take him to Wuyan’s apartment so he can apologise and find her. However, Wuyan is nowhere to be found, and Cheng Yin cannot tell him where she has gone. Nianqin waits for her, increasingly worried and regretful. The next morning, Wuyan wakes with a terrible hangover and sees the many missed calls on her phone. When she calls back, Wei Hao’s father answers and tells her that her father has passed away. The news devastates her. She rushes downstairs, hoping to get home as quickly as possible, and encounters Nianqin waiting outside. He tries to apologise for the argument and explain himself, but Wuyan is consumed by grief and guilt. She tells him that she never wants to see him again and leaves for her hometown. Returning home, Wuyan finds her father's portrait set up for the funeral. She is overwhelmed by regret because she did not get to see him one last time. Her mother is exhausted and emotionally shattered, and Wuyan struggles to face her. She kneels before her father's photograph and apologises for being stubborn and for not being there when he needed her. Wei Hao arrives to support her and help the family through the funeral arrangements. Wuyan promises her mother that after returning home, she will take responsibility for caring for her. Even while grieving, Wuyan remembers the radio programme she had planned with Nie Xi. Her father had been the first person to encourage her and look forward to hearing it, so she decides to return to the station and complete the programme in his memory. Nie Xi agrees to let her host the special episode featuring Wei Hao's Taoyzi Band. Although Wuyan is emotionally exhausted, she gathers herself and begins the broadcast. At first, the programme receives little audience interaction, but Wuyan continues with sincerity and warmth. As the show progresses, more listeners join in, and it eventually becomes the most-listened-to programme in its time slot. At the end, Wuyan speaks directly about her father and expresses how deeply she misses him. Her words turn the broadcast into a personal tribute, allowing her to share her grief with listeners while honouring the person who supported her dreams. Nianqin listens to the entire broadcast. Hearing Wuyan's voice and learning how much she is suffering makes him confront the consequences of his own behaviour. He realises that his insecurity and his hurtful words contributed to the distance between them at the worst possible moment. Unable to hold back his emotions, he cries as he listens, regretting that he could not be there for her when she needed him. The success of the programme leads the radio station to offer Wuyan a permanent hosting position. However, she has changed after her father's death. She feels she must return to her hometown and take care of her mother rather than continue pursuing her career in the city. She submits her resignation to Nie Xi, who understands her reasons and supports her decision to accept her family responsibilities. Before leaving, Wuyan says goodbye to Wei Hao, Xu Qian, Cheng Yin, and her other friends. During their farewell gathering, Wei Hao becomes emotional and criticises her for allowing the relationship with Nianqin to consume so much of her life that she missed her father's final moments. His words are painful, but Wuyan knows they reflect the regret she already feels. She cannot change what happened, and she has to decide how to move forward. On the way home, Cheng Yin's claustrophobia becomes a problem when the friends find the stairwell blocked and cannot open the door. Cheng Yin decides to face her fear and take the elevator with Wuyan. Unfortunately, the elevator suffers a malfunction and traps them inside. The two women are frightened and eventually injured during the incident. After they are taken for medical treatment, Wuyan prepares to leave the city and return to her hometown for good. Episode 15 ends with Wuyan choosing family responsibility over her career in the city, while Nianqin is left to face the loss of their relationship and the painful consequences of his actions. His father has survived the transplant, but Wuyan's father is gone, and the couple's love is broken by grief, regret, and misunderstandings. Their paths separate, setting the stage for the three-year time jump and the next chapter of their lives.
