Three years after separating from Su Nianqin, Sang Wuyan is still struggling to move on. Nianqin has returned to her life as a successful businessman after regaining his eyesight, but neither of them knows how to approach the feelings they have kept buried. As the hours pass, she becomes sleepy and eventually falls asleep on the sofa. When Nianqin returns, he is surprised to find Wuyan waiting for him. Seeing her sleeping uncomfortably, he gently carries her to the bed. He looks at her face and, unable to resist his feelings, kisses her while she is asleep. When he tries to kiss her again, she unconsciously pushes him away. Embarrassed by his own behaviour, he goes to the bathroom to compose himself before leaving for a business dinner. Wuyan wakes up later and sees a watch on the bathroom counter. Assuming it is her own, she puts it on and leaves the hotel without seeing Nianqin. He has arranged to bring food back for her, but when he returns, she is gone. He notices that the watch he has worn for years is missing and that the watch he once gave Wuyan has been left behind. He assumes she came only to return his gift and make it clear that she wants to end their connection permanently. Unable to ignore the situation, Nianqin calls Wuyan and asks why she came to see him. Their conversation quickly becomes emotional. Wuyan asks when he plans to invite her to his wedding, pretending that she is prepared to see him marry someone else. Nianqin is angered by the question and asks whether she truly wants him to marry another woman. Caught off guard, Wuyan admits that she does not want that to happen. Her answer gives Nianqin hope that she still has feelings for him, and he invites her to meet him for a meal. When they meet, the atmosphere is awkward at first.
