Episode 13 of Muhtemel Aşk begins two years after the shocking events of the previous episode. Defne survived the gunshot fired by Leyla, but the bullet fragment remaining dangerously close to her heart has become a permanent reminder of everything she lost. Unable to cope with the guilt surrounding Defne's injury, Kadir leaves her behind and disappears to America. During those two years, Defne gradually rebuilds her life, focuses on her work, and tries to leave Kadir and their painful past behind. Two years later, Kadir unexpectedly returns to Istanbul for business, immediately disturbing the carefully rebuilt balance of Defne's life. Defne is now attending an elegant event with Dr. Tamer, and Kadir unexpectedly sees her there dancing with another man. The sight is difficult for him to accept, so he attempts to leave without confronting her. Defne soon discovers that Kadir is inside and also tries to escape without being seen, but their plans fail when they come face to face at the valet. After two years apart, Kadir and Defne finally stand in front of each other again, but neither is able to say what they truly feel before they leave. While the old relationship between Kadir and Defne begins to resurface, the Bartıner Holding family has changed dramatically. Tolga has taken much greater control of the company, while Tolga and Özlem are now engaged and Mine and Levent have married. The new lives everyone has built, however, are about to be disrupted by an unexpected child. Defne's life changes completely when a six-year-old boy named Ali is brought to her home with the police. A letter from Kader reveals that Ali is her son and that Defne has been named as his legal guardian. The unexpected responsibility leaves Defne stunned, while the arrival of Ali creates an immediate connection between her and Kadir's family. Defne informs Kadir and Tolga about the situation, bringing both men back into her life. Kadir is deeply shaken when he meets his nephew Ali, while Tolga begins to suspect that the boy could actually be his own son. The uncertainty surrounding Ali's father becomes one of the episode's biggest mysteries. Tolga orders a DNA test to discover the truth, but Özlem secretly changes the test results, leading Tolga to believe that Ali is not his son. Kadir, meanwhile, becomes determined to keep Ali close to the Emindağ family. When Defne takes Ali to the park, Kadir uses the opportunity to take the child to Emindağ Farm. Defne immediately confronts him and threatens to involve the police if he does not return Ali. Refusing to surrender her responsibility as Ali's guardian, Defne succeeds in getting him back and makes it clear that Kadir cannot simply take the child away from her. The conflict then moves into the legal arena. Kadir brings a team of lawyers together to fight for custody of Ali, while Defne works to have her official guardianship documents recognized. Kadir changes his strategy and challenges Defne's position by accusing her of neglecting Ali. Their custody battle quickly becomes another painful confrontation between the two people who have never truly moved on from each other. As Kadir and Defne argue over Ali and years of unresolved anger spill back into the open, social-services officials arrive at Defne's home. The hostile atmosphere and conflict surrounding the child lead them to take Ali into institutional care. Defne is devastated by the possibility of losing Ali and realizes that she needs a solution that will immediately protect the child and keep him out of the system. With Ali's future hanging in the balance, Defne makes an unexpected decision. She approaches Kadir with a proposal that could change both of their lives: marriage. The woman who spent two years trying to rebuild her life without Kadir now finds herself asking the man she once loved to become her husband, because their marriage may be the fastest legal and practical way to bring Ali back and give him a stable family. Episode 13 therefore begins a completely new chapter for Muhtemel Aşk.
