Our Sticky Love Episode 1 opens in Seoul, where Go Eun-sae is a sharp, ambitious prosecutor working at the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office. Determined and fearless, she has been quietly building a case against a powerful and dangerous crime syndicate — one that reaches into the highest levels of government. Her investigation is going well, until it isn't. A mysterious incident during the pursuit leaves her in a serious accident, and Eun-sae loses everything — her name, her past, her identity. Every memory, gone. She wakes up two weeks later in a small rural hospital with no recollection of who she is. Even her fingerprints fail to identify her. Disoriented and desperate to piece together her life, she tries everything — including banging her head against the hospital wall — but nothing comes back. Her fellow patients mention that a handsome man came looking for her while she was unconscious. Hopeful, Eun-sae waits. But the man who eventually walks in looks nothing like what she imagined — scruffy, rough around the edges, not exactly the kind of person she instinctively pictures as her boyfriend. That man is Jang Tae-ha. A former youth boxing champion who abandoned a bright future in the ring to work for a criminal gang, Tae-ha has spent over a decade doing things he isn't proud of. His final mission for the organisation was to find Go Eun-sae — and silence her permanently. But when Tae-ha reaches her, he recognises her immediately as his long-lost first love. Unable to go through with the job, and knowing the syndicate will come after her the moment they learn she is alive, he makes a split-second decision inside a small boxing gym on the advice of a trusted elder: the safest place for Eun-sae right now is by his side. And so the lie is born. Tae-ha tells Eun-sae that they have been together for two years and are about to get married. He says she works at a taffy shop in his small hometown of Gujin, that she grew up in an orphanage and has no family, no friends, no colleagues to call. To prove it, he shows her a single Polaroid photograph of the two of them together — claiming his phone, which held all their other photos, is lost. Eun-sae is suspicious from the very first moment. Nothing quite adds up. But with no past to hold onto and no one else to turn to, she has no choice but to leave with him. Back in the quiet, taffy-scented town of Gujin, Eun-sae clashes immediately with the colourful local residents — warm but nosy neighbours who are clearly surprised by her sharp tongue and total lack of rural charm. Tae-ha quietly goes around apologising for her, explaining to anyone who will listen that she is still recovering and is a good person underneath. His words carry far more warmth than the situation calls for, and by the end of the episode, Eun-sae herself seems to notice it — when Tae-ha, almost without thinking, tells her that everything about her is pretty. Episode 1 sets the tone perfectly: half crime thriller, half slow-burn romantic comedy, with a fake relationship built entirely on a deception only one of them knows about. Eun-sae is suspicious, Tae-ha is guilty, and somewhere underneath both of their carefully held guards, something far stickier than either expected has already begun.
