Our Universe Episode 4 picks up with an awkward morning neither Tae-hyung nor Hyun-jin knows how to handle. After drinking together the previous night, the two accidentally fell asleep in the same bed. They are both startled when they wake up and immediately try to understand what happened. As they slowly remember the night before, it becomes clear that nothing romantic actually happened, but the situation has changed something between them. For the first time, they begin looking at each other as a man and woman rather than simply two reluctant in-laws raising Woo-joo together. Hyun-jin is particularly embarrassed by how much she remembers from the previous night. She had opened a bottle of wine, handled Tae-hyung's camera and listened as he talked about his photography career. The conversation eventually turned emotional when Hyun-jin broke down while talking about how much she misses her sister. Tae-hyung comforted her instead of making fun of her, and that small moment of tenderness now makes their accidental night together feel much more significant. The awkwardness continues throughout the morning. They try to behave normally around each other, but even simple things such as using the bathroom or passing each other in the hallway suddenly feel different. Tae-hyung starts wondering why he is becoming so conscious of Hyun-jin, while Hyun-jin is equally confused about why she suddenly cares so much about what he thinks of her. Their arguments remain, but there is now an unmistakable tension underneath them. At BS Food, Hyun-jin has another problem to deal with. She desperately wants to keep her unusual home life private. She is already worried that her colleagues will judge her for raising a baby while living with a man, especially because that man is technically her brother-in-law. She is even more determined to keep the truth from Park Yun-seong, her former first love who is now her team leader. When colleagues begin talking about a woman who apparently has a husband and child, Hyun-jin becomes nervous that someone might connect the story to her. Yun-seong, meanwhile, continues to pay close attention to Hyun-jin. Their professional relationship becomes more comfortable as he trusts her with important work, including the Glomarket project. Hyun-jin works hard to prove herself because she is the only contract employee on the team and knows that she cannot afford to make mistakes. Yun-seong notices her effort and gives her increasingly important responsibilities, which means she has to spend even more time at the office. Back at the apartment, Tae-hyung's relationship with Woo-joo continues to grow. The toddler is becoming completely comfortable with his uncle, and Tae-hyung is beginning to behave less like someone temporarily babysitting and more like an actual caregiver. Their neighbours also start treating Tae-hyung and Hyun-jin like a real couple. When Du-sik encounters Hyun-jin, Tae-hyung's attempt to explain their situation only makes things more awkward, especially when Hyun-jin learns that he has introduced her as his girlfriend. Hyun-jin's workload soon becomes overwhelming. She tells Tae-hyung that she needs to work overtime on the Glomarket project and asks him to take care of Woo-joo until things settle down. Tae-hyung initially pushes back, reminding her that they agreed to keep some distance from each other. But he eventually agrees because he knows how important the job is to her. His actions increasingly show that he cares about whether she succeeds, even when he refuses to admit it. One evening, Tae-hyung notices Hyun-jin still working late at home. She is exhausted and has barely eaten, so he quietly brings her coffee and checks whether she has had dinner. When she eventually falls asleep while working, he covers her with a blanket rather than waking her. It is another small gesture that reveals how naturally he is beginning to look after her. The episode also brings Tae-hyung's photography back into focus. Hyun-jin discovers his connection to renowned photographer Amy Choo and realises that he has not completely abandoned the part of himself that once mattered most to him. When Amy Choo contacts Tae-hyung about his work, Hyun-jin encourages him to reconsider photography. Tae-hyung insists that he has given up and even claims that he got rid of his cameras, but Hyun-jin knows he is not being completely honest. As the days pass, Yun-seong's presence begins to create another layer of tension. Hyun-jin wants to maintain a professional relationship with him while keeping her private life hidden. Tae-hyung, meanwhile, starts noticing how much time she spends with her team leader. He does not openly admit that he is bothered by it, but his questions and reactions reveal a growing sense of jealousy. The biggest emotional shift comes during a rainy evening. Tae-hyung remembers Hyun-jin talking about how much rain reminds her of her sister and her childhood. He learns more about the painful memories connected to the small paper stars Hyun-jin keeps, including the childhood moments when her sister would comfort her during rainy days. Instead of dismissing those memories, Tae-hyung quietly understands why they still hurt her. Wanting to do something kind for her, Tae-hyung prepares food for Hyun-jin and waits for her to return. He even takes Woo-joo out with an umbrella when he realises she will be coming home in the rain. But Hyun-jin arrives with Yun-seong, who gives her a ride because of the heavy rain. Tae-hyung sees them together and immediately becomes upset, although he tries to disguise his feelings as annoyance over her breaking their plans. Hyun-jin explains that Yun-seong only drove her because of the weather, but Tae-hyung is clearly bothered. Their conversation becomes tense, with Tae-hyung telling her not to make promises she cannot keep because he hates waiting. Hyun-jin then discovers the food he prepared for her and realises that beneath all his complaints, he had actually been waiting for her. The episode ends with their relationship in a noticeably different place from where it began. They still argue, but Tae-hyung is now looking after Hyun-jin as much as he looks after Woo-joo, while Hyun-jin is becoming increasingly aware of how dependable he can be. At the same time, Yun-seong's return brings an old romantic connection into Hyun-jin's life, creating a quiet rivalry that Tae-hyung has not yet acknowledged. Episode 4 turns the awkward co-parenting arrangement into something more emotionally complicated. The accidental night together has made both leads conscious of their attraction, while work, jealousy and Hyun-jin's unresolved history with her first love begin pulling the three adults into an increasingly tangled relationship.
