Our Universe Episode 5 begins with Hyun-jin's carefully guarded secret suddenly coming close to falling apart. Yoon-seong, who is not only her team leader at BS Food but also the landlord of the apartment, arrives at her doorstep. Hyun-jin panics and quickly tells Tae-hyung and Woo-joo to hide in the bedroom. For a moment it looks as though she might be able to explain everything without exposing their unusual living arrangement, but Woo-joo has other plans. He runs out of the bedroom, with Tae-hyung following after him, and Tae-hyung ends up tripping over one of Woo-joo's toys in front of Yoon-seong. The secret is out. Hyun-jin takes Yoon-seong aside and explains the complicated situation. Tae-hyung is furious that she tried to hide him and Woo-joo from Yoon-seong, especially after discovering that the man is not simply her boss. He soon learns that Yoon-seong was Hyun-jin's first love during college, making the situation much more personal than he expected. His irritation is obvious, although he tries to disguise his jealousy as anger over being treated like a secret. At the same time, Tae-hyung receives another message from photographer Amy Choo reminding him about the unfinished assignment she gave him. When he goes to meet her, Amy reveals that she developed the film he left behind. The photographs contain candid shots of Woo-joo and Hyun-jin, and Amy immediately notices something Tae-hyung himself has been reluctant to admit. The way he photographs Hyun-jin reveals genuine affection. She offers him a professional photography project, giving him an opportunity to reconnect with the career he had been putting aside. Hyun-jin's friend Se-yeon also begins to notice the obvious tension between the two people living together. She asks Hyun-jin whether Tae-hyung might have feelings for her, but Hyun-jin quickly dismisses the idea. As far as she is concerned, their relationship is simply an arrangement built around Woo-joo. She still refuses to acknowledge how much Tae-hyung's presence has started to matter to her. A chance invitation gives the household another opportunity to spend time together. A neighbour invites Hyun-jin and Woo-joo on a family camping trip, and Hyun-jin decides that Tae-hyung should come too. She hopes the trip will help repair the tension between them after Yoon-seong discovered their living arrangement. At the campsite, Woo-joo happily plays with the other children while Tae-hyung takes photographs of the families around him. For a while, the three of them look surprisingly like a normal little family. The peaceful mood changes when Tae-hyung overhears Hyun-jin talking with their neighbour. She explains that she and Tae-hyung are absolutely not dating, that their relationship is awkward and that he will eventually move out. Tae-hyung only hears the part that hurts him. He walks away believing that Hyun-jin sees their time together as nothing more than an inconvenience and that she will be happy when he is gone. His mood becomes noticeably colder. Hyun-jin cannot understand why he suddenly starts acting distant and eventually leaves the campsite for a walk. While she is outside, Yoon-seong calls her about work. She moves away from the campsite to find a stronger phone signal and accidentally enters a restricted area. Before long, she realises that she has become lost in the woods. Back at the campsite, the neighbour becomes worried because Hyun-jin has not returned. When Tae-hyung continues sulking, the neighbour finally tells him that he completely misunderstood what Hyun-jin said. She had also said that Tae-hyung was a good person and that she would miss him once he moved out. Tae-hyung realises that he heard only the part of the conversation that confirmed his fears. His anger disappears immediately, replaced by concern when he realises Hyun-jin is still missing. Tae-hyung heads into the woods to search for her. Hyun-jin's phone cannot be reached, and the weather begins to deteriorate. Eventually, Tae-hyung finds her injured and lost. Heavy rain starts falling, and he helps her reach a small cabin where they can take shelter. Hyun-jin is relieved that he came looking for her, and the two finally talk honestly about why the rain affects them so strongly. Tae-hyung reveals that he has never liked rainy days because they remind him of his childhood and the endless time he spent waiting for his older brother to return. The memory of being abandoned has stayed with him for years. Hyun-jin listens without judging him and offers something simple but meaningful: if he ever finds himself alone and stuck somewhere on a rainy day, he can call her. She promises that she will come to him. The moment changes the way Tae-hyung sees her. Instead of treating Hyun-jin as merely his difficult co-parenting partner, he begins to understand that she genuinely wants to be someone he can depend on. On the way back to the campsite, he carries her because she is injured. Hyun-jin then suggests that they stop using formal language and simply become friends. Tae-hyung is reluctant to call their relationship friendship, but eventually agrees. When they return home, they discover that Yoon-seong has been waiting for Hyun-jin. He became worried after their phone conversation was suddenly cut off and insisted that she get medical attention. Hyun-jin is taken to the hospital and receives treatment for her injuries. Grateful for Yoon-seong's help, she agrees to have lunch with him the following day. The next morning, Tae-hyung wakes up feeling sick. Hyun-jin worries about him, but Tae-hyung insists that she should still go to lunch with Yoon-seong. Yoon-seong picks up Hyun-jin and Woo-joo, and the two former college sweethearts begin reminiscing about their younger days. During lunch, Yoon-seong openly tells Hyun-jin that he wants to get to know her again, just as they once knew each other in college. While Hyun-jin is away, Tae-hyung receives the developed photographs from the camping trip. Looking at the pictures of Hyun-jin, he remembers Amy Choo's observation that a camera lens does not lie about the photographer's feelings. He can no longer easily convince himself that his concern for Hyun-jin is simply part of taking care of Woo-joo. His feelings have become real. Tae-hyung's condition worsens and he develops a high fever. As he lies alone in bed, memories from the orphanage return, including the observation that he always became sick whenever it rained. Meanwhile, Yoon-seong suggests continuing the lunch outing with dessert, but Hyun-jin becomes increasingly worried because Tae-hyung is not answering his phone. Hyun-jin finally decides to return home instead of continuing her date with Yoon-seong. She finds Tae-hyung burning with fever and immediately starts taking care of him. After making sure he is comfortable, she stays beside him until she eventually falls asleep next to the bed. When Tae-hyung wakes and sees Hyun-jin there, he realises that she has chosen to come back for him. The promise she made in the rain suddenly feels very real. Still weak and unable to hide his feelings any longer, Tae-hyung finally tells her the truth: he likes her. Episode 5 ends with Tae-hyung's first direct confession, completely changing the balance between them. What began as a temporary arrangement for Woo-joo has become something much more complicated, while Yoon-seong's return as Hyun-jin's first love sets up a genuine love triangle. Tae-hyung has finally admitted what he feels, but Hyun-jin is still trying to understand her own heart.
