The decision he makes at his darkest moment is the one that changes everything: he is going to take Canfeza away from Selim. He is going to keep the promise he made to her — the real one, not the strategic one. He drives her toward Antalya to marry her properly, and in the car, Canfeza puts into words what she is afraid of: that one day his grief will rise back up and he will look at her and see only her father's name.
