Filing for Love Episode 9 begins immediately after Joo In-ah and Noh Ki-jun finally choose each other in Jeju. He tells her that he will do whatever is necessary to cancel the transfer. In-ah is concerned that rejecting such a prestigious opportunity could damage his career, but Ki-jun insists that staying is his own decision and that he does not want to sacrifice his relationship for someone else's plan. Their happiness is interrupted when Jeon Jae-yeol arrives too late at In-ah's hotel. He had gone there hoping to speak with her, but she has already left with Ki-jun. When Jae-yeol eventually sees the two of them together at the beach, he realizes that In-ah has genuinely moved on. The sight devastates him. He returns to Seoul and begins drinking heavily, unable to accept that the woman he once loved has chosen another man. Jae-yeol drinks through the night and misses an important company meeting the following morning. Jeon Sung-yeol takes advantage of his absence and chairs the meeting himself, strengthening his position inside Haemu Group. Jae-yeol's continued instability gives his rival another opportunity to gain control of the company. A-jeong repeatedly calls Jae-yeol, but he ignores her. She is frustrated because she has been trying to stay close to him while he remains emotionally consumed by In-ah. His rejection pushes A-jeong further toward resentment and jealousy. Back at Haemu, Ki-jun and In-ah attempt to keep their relationship secret from their coworkers. Their behavior has changed noticeably, however. They exchange private smiles, text each other during work, and find excuses to spend time together. Although they try to behave professionally around Team 3, their happiness is obvious enough that some employees begin to suspect that something has changed between them. Ki-jun has planned a romantic weekend outing for the two of them. He imagines that they will finally have their first proper date away from work. Unfortunately, a new audit complaint arrives before they can enjoy their plans. The complaint concerns Min Tae-woo, an employee of Haemu International. Tae-woo has recently become obsessed with scuba diving and has been making frequent trips to a diving club. His wife is suspicious because he keeps going away on weekends and appears unusually secretive about the trips. She begins to suspect that he may be having an affair with another woman from the diving club. The Audit Office discusses the complaint, and In-ah decides that the only way to establish the truth is to investigate the next diving trip personally. She realizes that the best way to observe Tae-woo without alerting him is to join the scuba-diving group herself. Ki-jun is shocked when he discovers that In-ah has effectively turned their planned romantic weekend into a work assignment. He reminds her that he had already arranged a date for them, but In-ah insists that the audit has to come first. Ki-jun reluctantly agrees to join the investigation, deciding that at least they can spend the weekend together while working. The two arrive at the scuba-diving club and immediately notice that Tae-woo appears unusually close to another diver, Ms. Ha. She is an experienced diver and seems to spend a great deal of time with Tae-woo. Their interactions are enough to convince Ki-jun that the wife's suspicions may be correct. Ki-jun becomes especially suspicious when he notices Tae-woo repeatedly filming Ms. Ha. He begins watching them closely and interprets Tae-woo's behavior as romantic interest. In-ah also starts wondering whether the two are secretly involved. Ki-jun deliberately asks Tae-woo to become his diving partner so that he can observe him more closely underwater. During the dive, Tae-woo begins struggling and eventually suffers a panic attack. Ki-jun helps him reach safety, but the incident raises an important question: why would someone who is clearly uncomfortable in the water keep returning to a scuba-diving club? As the investigation continues, Ki-jun and In-ah discover that Tae-woo is not an experienced diver at all. He keeps participating because he wants to remain close to Ms. Ha, who is a highly skilled member of the club. From the outside, his behavior still looks exactly like the behavior of a man having an affair. The auditors continue following Tae-woo and eventually discover that another employee, Mr. Yoon, is also a member of the diving club. Yoon is Tae-woo's superior at Haemu International and appears to have an unusually close relationship with him. Tae-woo regularly accompanies Yoon on diving trips, even when he has promised his wife that he will spend the weekend with his family. The truth begins to emerge when Yoon leaves the diving trip early, claiming that he has a dinner appointment. He travels to a wake attended by several Haemu employees and senior executives. During the gathering, Yoon repeatedly complains about younger workers and boasts about his authority over his subordinates. Yoon becomes heavily intoxicated but insists that he has arranged a chauffeur to drive him home. When one of the senior executives leaves the wake, he notices that the person driving Yoon is actually Tae-woo. The executive immediately realizes that Tae-woo has been serving as Yoon's personal driver during these supposedly recreational diving trips. The executive contacts Ki-jun and provides the missing piece of information. Ki-jun and In-ah investigate further and discover that Ms. Ha is actually Tae-woo's cousin. There is no romantic relationship between them at all. Tae-woo joined the scuba-diving club because Yoon repeatedly ordered him to participate as his diving partner. Yoon has been forcing Tae-woo to accompany him on diving trips almost every other weekend, even when Tae-woo repeatedly asks to spend time with his wife and family. Yoon uses Tae-woo's desire for promotion to control him, suggesting that employees who cooperate with senior managers are more likely to advance within the company. Tae-woo has therefore been trapped in an abusive workplace relationship. He cannot openly refuse Yoon because he fears that his career will suffer. He is also afraid that his wife will misunderstand the situation if she discovers how often he is being forced to spend weekends away from home. Ki-jun and In-ah invite Tae-woo to speak privately about what has been happening. At first, he refuses to accuse his superior because he believes that challenging Yoon could destroy his career. In-ah explains that remaining silent will only allow the abuse to continue and that the Audit Office can protect him if he tells the truth. Tae-woo eventually admits that Yoon has been using his authority to control him. He reveals that he has been the only employee in his peer group who has not received a promotion. Yoon repeatedly promised that a promotion would come if Tae-woo continued helping him, making it difficult for Tae-woo to refuse the assignments. The audit team gathers evidence showing that Yoon used company time and resources for his personal scuba-diving trips. He also manipulated Tae-woo through his position as a superior. The case is therefore reclassified from a suspected affair into a serious workplace-abuse and abuse-of-authority investigation. In-ah uses the case to prepare a workplace-harassment prevention program for Haemu employees. She explains that harassment does not always involve shouting or physical violence. A superior can also abuse power by controlling an employee's personal time, using promotion opportunities as leverage, and creating fear of retaliation. Tae-woo receives a positive outcome from the investigation. Instead of being punished for the scuba-diving trips, he is given an opportunity to transfer to the United States. The new position allows him to escape Yoon's influence and gives him a chance to build a career based on his own ability. Yoon, meanwhile, faces disciplinary action for abusing his position and using work time for personal activities. His behavior becomes a clear example of the kind of workplace misconduct that Audit Team 3 exists to uncover. While the audit case is being resolved, Ki-jun and In-ah continue trying to enjoy their new relationship. One evening, In-ah invites Ki-jun to her apartment and tells him that she will make ramyeon. Ki-jun becomes extremely excited because he assumes this is finally going to be their first private date without work getting in the way. However, when Ki-jun arrives, In-ah reveals that she has a presentation to prepare. She has invited him over so that they can work through the night preparing material about workplace harassment. Ki-jun is disappointed but decides to stay because he simply enjoys being around her. The two spend the night working together. Their relationship feels increasingly natural, with Ki-jun teasing In-ah and In-ah quietly enjoying his presence. The domestic atmosphere is very different from the hostility that characterized their relationship earlier in the drama. Meanwhile, Jae-yeol's personal life collapses further. His wife returns to Korea after her father becomes concerned about Jae-yeol's increasingly reckless behavior and the growing conflict over the family inheritance. She immediately realizes that Jae-yeol is emotionally unstable and demands to know what has happened. Jae-yeol finally tells his wife that he wants a divorce. She is stunned because she had not expected him to take such a drastic step. Jae-yeol insists that the decision is not simply about In-ah. After the workplace-harassment presentation is completed, In-ah invites Ki-jun to her apartment again and this time makes it clear that she wants to have a real date. Ki-jun is delighted and prepares to leave work early. Unfortunately, Team 3 has planned a dinner to celebrate Ki-jun's recovery after the stabbing. His colleagues insist that he attend. Ki-jun tries to leave quickly because he promised In-ah he would come over, but the team keeps him at the restaurant longer than expected. Ki-jun eventually escapes and rushes toward In-ah's apartment. When he arrives, he discovers that Jae-yeol is already there. Jae-yeol tells In-ah that he has decided to divorce his wife. He insists that he is not ending his marriage simply to win In-ah back. Instead, he says that he has finally realized that he was never happy and that continuing the marriage would be unfair to everyone involved. Jae-yeol also admits that he still has feelings for In-ah. He knows that she has chosen Ki-jun, but he wants her to understand that he regrets the decisions he made years earlier. He tells her that he will always regret giving up their relationship when he had the chance to choose her. Ki-jun arrives while Jae-yeol is still inside the apartment. He is immediately uncomfortable and angry to see the man who once loved In-ah standing in her home. Instead of starting a confrontation, Ki-jun quietly leaves because he does not want to force In-ah to choose between the two men in that moment. In-ah follows him to the elevator. The message contains photographs of In-ah and Jae-yeol together and implies that their relationship was improper and possibly connected to her position within the company. The timing is devastating. In-ah has only just begun a relationship with Ki-jun, and now the company is being told that she previously had a secret relationship with Jae-yeol. The accusation threatens her career, her reputation, and her authority as head of the Audit Office. Ki-jun immediately stands beside her. He knows that the photographs do not tell the full story and refuses to abandon her simply because an anonymous accusation has been circulated. Earlier, A-jeong had encountered In-ah and confronted her about Jae-yeol. She bitterly suggested that In-ah should simply give Jae-yeol to her and implied that she was tired of sharing his attention. In-ah calmly asked her a painful question: even if she gave Jae-yeol up, would he actually choose A-jeong? The question deeply wounds A-jeong. Later, consumed by jealousy and resentment, she prepares the exposé and sends it anonymously to Haemu employees. When the article spreads, In-ah sees the photographs of herself and Jae-yeol and becomes completely overwhelmed. She struggles to remain standing as the office begins filling with rumors and speculation. Ki-jun catches her before she falls and holds her steady. He tells her that he is there and that she does not have to face the accusation alone. Episode 9 ends with In-ah standing at the center of a corporate scandal that threatens everything she has built. Her relationship with Ki-jun has finally become real, but A-jeong's decision to expose her past with Jae-yeol has created a crisis that could destroy her position at Haemu. Ki-jun, however, remains beside her, setting up the major conflict of Episode 10.
