Three years after separating from Wei Hao, Xu Qian finally understands what she wants from life. The pressure of her job and the rumours circulating at her company make her reconsider the future she has been pursuing. Remembering the sacrifices Wei Hao made and the feelings she never truly let go of, she resigns and returns to her hometown to find him. Wei Hao is stunned when Xu Qian appears unexpectedly. He worries that she has been treated unfairly at work and asks whether she still wants to be with him. Xu Qian admits that she did not understand her own feelings before and hopes he will forgive her for being cold and indecisive. Wei Hao is overjoyed that she has returned, and the two reconcile. Their reunion is interrupted when Sang Wuyan arrives, but their renewed relationship soon turns toward marriage. Wei Hao decides to propose to Xu Qian and asks Wuyan to help him prepare. Wuyan accidentally lets the secret slip while talking with Xu Qian's grandmother. Rather than becoming upset, Xu Qian asks Wei Hao directly whether he genuinely intends to marry her. When he confirms that he does, she agrees. Wei Hao takes her to meet his parents, who already know about her difficult family circumstances. Xu Qian worries that they may regard her background as a burden, but they welcome her warmly and express sympathy for what she has endured. Their kindness gives her reassurance that she can become part of a family that accepts her. As wedding preparations begin, Xu Qian and Wuyan talk about love and happiness. Xu Qian encourages Wuyan to pursue the happiness she deserves instead of giving up on love. On the eve of the wedding, Xu Qian's mother unexpectedly returns. Xu Qian remains hurt by her mother's past behaviour and cannot immediately welcome her affectionately, but she gives her a wedding invitation. Despite their unresolved issues, the invitation leaves open the possibility of a more complicated reconciliation. At the wedding, Xu Qian and Wei Hao finally begin their married life together. Xu Qian tosses her bouquet toward Wuyan, prompting Wuyan's mother to become even more determined to find a suitable husband for her daughter. Wuyan is pressured into attending a series of blind dates. She finds the process tiring and awkward, and her mother insists that she try one final candidate, a man who appears to meet all the expected requirements. Meanwhile, Su Nianqin has rebuilt his life. After regaining his sight, he has taken on responsibility for his family's business and become a successful businessman. Yet he has never truly moved on from Wuyan. He continues listening to her radio programme, holding on to the sound of her voice even though they have been apart for three years. When he travels to Tongcheng to handle a business acquisition involving Toro, he has no idea that he is about to encounter her again. Nianqin and Wuyan unexpectedly cross paths at the hotel where she is attending her blind date. Nianqin walks past her without recognising her at first because he has never seen her face. Wuyan, however, recognises him immediately and is shaken by the sight of the man she has spent three years trying to forget. When Nianqin hears someone call her by her surname, he realises who she is and asks his assistant to bring her over. Wuyan ends the blind date and leaves the hotel, unable to continue pretending that Nianqin's presence means nothing to her. He follows her outside and hands her his business card, insisting that he has come to the city for work rather than to search for her. When Wuyan nearly collides with a luggage cart, Nianqin instinctively steps in to protect her. His quick reaction makes it clear that his feelings and concern for her have not disappeared. Wuyan is shocked by how completely Nianqin's life has changed. He can now see, and he carries himself as a confident businessman rather than the reserved songwriter she once knew. Hurt by his formal manner and his claim that he is only in town for business, she throws his business card into a rubbish bin in front of him. After he leaves, however, she secretly returns to retrieve it, revealing that she still cares despite her attempt to appear indifferent. The encounter unsettles both of them. Wuyan tries to convince herself that seeing Nianqin again should make no difference to her life, but she cannot stop thinking about him. Nianqin is equally disturbed. He has spent years building a new identity and learning to live without her, yet their brief meeting brings back the emotions he has tried to suppress. He returns to his hotel, drinks despite Xiaolu's advice, and listens to Wuyan's recorded voice, unable to escape memories of their past. The episode also introduces Wuyan's work with a child named Xiaojie, who has autism. She begins an experimental support programme designed to help him, signing an agreement with his mother so that the research centre can temporarily care for him. This responsibility becomes another important part of Wuyan's life and shows how she has continued to grow during the years apart. Episode 17 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the characters. Xu Qian and Wei Hao finally reconcile and marry, while Wuyan is pushed toward a new relationship by her mother. But Nianqin's unexpected return makes it clear that their past love remains unresolved. Although both have changed during the three years apart, their brief reunion reveals that neither has fully let go.
